Marketing Manager & Web Producer

Make-A-Wish Foundation of America – Phoenix, AZ

Marketing Manager and Web Producer. This position develops, implements and manages marketing and communications programs to generate revenue and promotional support for the Foundation and its chapters. The individual will serve as project lead on Foundation-wide initiatives which include the development of marketing materials and campaigns, management of public service campaigns, web site strategies/management, analyzing current programs and preparing various reports. The position requires a bachelor’s degree, or a relevant combination of education and experience, in marketing, advertising, public relations and web production. Experience working in a marketing agency is a plus. A minimum of two years experience in web production, marketing, advertising or public relations preferred. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication, presentation, and customer service skills, as well as strong computer skills. The position also requires the ability to travel for job-related duties.

Chief Executive Officer

Make-A-Wish Foundation of Oklahoma – Oklahoma City, OK

The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Oklahoma, a chapter of the largest wish-granting organization in the world, is seeking candidates for its CEO position. The chapter office is located in Oklahoma City, OK.

Job Purpose

Reporting to the Board of Directors of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Oklahoma, the CEO has overall responsibility for the strategic, fundraising, programmatic, financial and management operations of the Chapter. The CEO will be the leader in communicating the Make-A-Wish Foundation vision and program objectives to internal and external constituencies within the region and will work collaboratively with the Board, committees, staff, and volunteers in raising funds, formulating policy, developing strategy and achieving performance standards.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

1. Provide visionary leadership.

2. Develop, communicate and implement goals and objectives. Ensure the Chapter is meeting the standards and performance measures established by Make-A-Wish Foundation of America.

3. Actively participate in the raising and leveraging of funds. Develop broad-based funding sources to ensure a continuing stable financial base for chapter operations.

4. Ensure program growth. Ensure wish referrals and completed wishes reflect the diversity of the region and the communities served.

5. Ensure fiduciary responsibility, sound financial management and financial accountability for contributions, income and all other foundation assets. Ensure public accountability consistent with Make-A-Wish Foundation of America policies.

6. Serve as a spokesperson and advocate for the organization’s mission, programs and services.

7. Maintain open, collaborative relationship with Make-A-Wish Foundation of Oklahoma Board of Directors. Ensure Board development.

8. Promote and maintain effective public relations, public information and marketing programs. Establish and cultivate close working relationships with other community organizations and leaders.

9. Identify and develop diverse paid and volunteer staff. Ensure the development and maintenance of effective human resources management, programs and policies. Recognize the contributions and services of paid and volunteer staff.

Working Relationships

1. Internal:

• Board of Directors, Board committees and all departments.

2. External:

• Make-A-Wish Foundation of America - National Headquarters, other Make-A-Wish chapters and major donors, volunteer leadership, community organizations and businesses in the chapter territory.

Requirements

1. Experience:

• Proven track record of success with full P&L, planning and operations responsibilities

• Extensive not-for-profit experience either as a volunteer or staff member

• Demonstrated ability to develop funding sources for growth initiatives

2. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Enormous passion for and commitment to the mission of Make-A-Wish and its importance to our community.

• A strong sense of self, which inspires trust and confidence by others.

• Experience leading a complex organization and an understanding of the importance the organization and its volunteers have in their local communities.

• Demonstrated leadership, innovation, vision and creativity in previous and current positions.

• Demonstrated experience at working effectively and achieving results with all levels of an organization and building the appropriate partnerships with board, committees, staff, volunteers, chapters, and the public.

• Ability to work effectively with diverse constituencies, including key community leaders and organizations.

• Strong understanding of inter-organization relationships and ability to network and build effective collaborative relationships.

• Demonstrated experience and willingness to assess, plan and implement fundraising strategies.

• Outstanding public presentation skills and a capacity to communicate complex information to the press, board, committees, staff, volunteers, and the public in a concise, focused and convincing manner.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree; Master’s Degree preferred

• Ten years management and leadership experience at an executive level with a minimum of five years of non-profit management experience

• Demonstrated fund raising / business development expertise via multiple methods including major donors, grants, corporate sponsors and special events preferred

• Excellent communication, management and leadership skills

• Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills using computer tools as appropriate

Regional Director

Make-A-Wish Foundation of Texas Plains – Amarillo or Lubbock, TX

The candidate has overall responsibility for the fundraising, programmatic, financial and management operations of Chapter offices located in Amarillo and Lubbock. This position may be headquartered in either city, with extensive travel throughout the panhandle required. Ensures fiduciary responsibility and provides visionary leadership to advance the Foundation’s mission in the region and works collaboratively with the Make-A-Wish Foundation of America national office, regional advisory board members, committees, staff, and volunteers in raising funds, formulating policy, developing strategy and achieving performance standards. Bachelor of Arts/Science in a Social Science, Business or Non-Profit Management Program required, Master’s Degree preferred, or a combination of relevant experience and education. Ten years management and leadership experience at an executive level with a minimum of five years of non-profit management experience preferred. Candidate must possess effective problem solving and decision making skills, effective communication, management and leadership skills, and demonstrated fundraising/business development expertise.

Internships - Summer 2009

Introduction:

The Make-A-Wish Foundation of America, located in downtown Phoenix, Arizona, provides interns the unique opportunity to contribute to one of the country's most respected and recognized non-profit organizations. This two-month program is designed for undergraduate or graduate students with the goal of being a leader in the non-profit sector. There is much hard work that goes into fulfilling the mission of granting wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions, but there is also much satisfaction to be gained. All internships involve professional-level tasks that will introduce the student to the everyday challenges that a staff member at the Foundation is likely to face.

Program Details:

The Summer Internship Program lasts 10 weeks and will begin June 1 – August 7, 2009. We can be flexible depending on the specific internship and the student's availability. All summer interns work full time. A $3,000 stipend is available. Interns are responsible for all travel and housing costs and arrangements.

Available 2009 Summer Internships

Human Resources Internship

Responsibilities: This internship provides the opportunity to learn many phases of human resources management including job recruitment, new hire orientation, and personnel file management. There is also the opportunity to contribute to strategic discussions regarding human resources and take part in projects that will positively impact the employees of the Foundation. Primary tasks include:

· Post open employment opportunities, utilizing on-line recruitment sources

· Conduct phone interviews with job candidates

· Perform reference checks and background checks for job candidates

· Assist with the facilitation of new hire orientation

· Manage confidential personnel information in accordance with federal law and Make-A-Wish Foundation of America policy and procedure.

· Participate in special projects as they are determined.

Qualifications: One internship is available per semester and applicants will be selected for an interview based on information provided in their cover letter and resume. Specific qualifications are as follows:

· Some knowledge of human resources, either through coursework or professional experience.

· Some knowledge of interview techniques, either through coursework or experience in interviewing.

· Proficiency in MS Word, MS Outlook, and the Internet.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Corporate Alliances/New Sales Internship

Responsibilities: This internship provides the opportunity to learn about sponsorship and marketing in the non-profit sector. This position is housed with the Corporate Alliances team within the Marketing and Corporate Alliances Department, which is collaboratively responsible for overseeing all aspects of marketing and corporate relationships for the national office of the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Participation in this opportunity is intended to help the intern gain skills and experiences such as the ability to organize work, communication skills, tracking, sponsorship sales and account cultivation, and overall, an understanding of a federated non-profit organization.

Primary tasks include:

· Research potential corporate sponsors

· Corporate partner data collection and analysis

· Sponsor acknowledgements

· Corporate partnership recaps and reports

· Projects associated with corporate sponsorship programs and fund raising

Qualifications: One internship is available per summer and applicants will be selected for an interview based on information provided in their cover letter and resume. Specific qualifications are as follows:

· Exceptional verbal and written communication and organizational skills

· Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Office Suite, PowerPoint and Outlook

· Detail oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects

· General knowledge of sponsorships and principles of marketing

· Ability to work at a fast pace

· Strong sense of customer service

Mission Resources Internship

Responsibilities: This internship provides the opportunity to learn about sponsorship and marketing in the non-profit sector. This position is housed with the Mission Resources team within the Chapter Support Department, which is collaboratively responsible for assisting all chapters in the delivery of our wish-granting mission. Participation in this opportunity is intended to help the intern gain skills and experiences such as the ability to organize work, communication skills, volunteer management, and overall, an understanding of a federated non-profit organization.

Primary tasks include:

· Develop an inventory of program models including structures, training protocols, and recognition activities for wish-granting volunteers

· Respond to inquiries from general public about the Foundation’s wish-granting process

· Assist with development of Wish Coordinator training materials

· Assist with development of Medical Outreach tools and resources

· Work with the national office staff liaisons to the Mission Delivery Task Force to establish solutions to ongoing wish-granting concerns

· Develop an inventory of quality wish-granting tools and resources currently in use for peer sharing on the Foundation’s intranet system
