When eight-year-old Reid met with his wish granter to brainstorm ideas, he initially said, “I might like a new Lego set or maybe a Matchbox car.” But the staff at Make-A-Wish Connecticut encouraged him to “think a little bigger.” That’s when Reid, an avid Formula 1 and Ferrari fan whose favorite color is red, decided on his ultimate wish: a trip to Italy to tour the Ferrari Factory.
At Make-A-Wish’s annual Wish Night event, Reid discovered his wish was coming true! The look on his face was priceless when he learned that he and his family would be leaving for Italy the very next day! As if that weren’t exciting enough, Reid got to kick off the adventure with a ride in a bright red Ferrari waiting for him in the parking lot—the perfect start to an unforgettable week.
The journey began in style with a limo ride to the airport. After a long flight, the family landed in Florence, Italy, ready for their adventure. The highlight of the trip was undoubtedly the visit to the Ferrari Factory, which exceeded all of Reid’s expectations. The experience included a museum tour showcasing Ferrari’s iconic red racing cars, the rich history of Motor Valley (the heart of Italian car culture), and a behind-the-scenes look at the factory where the legendary cars are made.
Beyond the factory tour, Reid and his family fell in love with Florence. Reid and his brothers indulged in two of their favorite Italian treats—pizza and gelato—and even participated in a pizza-making class, adding a hands-on culinary experience to their journey. The trip was filled with joy, adventure, and cherished family moments.
The boys loved every minute of it. It was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
