Boise, ID: Make-A-Wish® Idaho granted a wish to have a horse to Addie, a nine-year-old Nampa girl with an immune system disorder on December 18, 2021. Addie believed that she was going to her regularly scheduled horse-riding lesson at the stables but was told when she arrived that she would not be riding her usual horse. Instead, she would be riding a four-year-old appaloosa named Pablo.
Once Addie and Pablo were face to face, it was revealed that Pablo was her wish horse. Addie was described by family as “being on cloud 9.” Addie spent the day riding and bonding with Pablo, by all accounts an extremely patient and easygoing horse, perfect for a young rider.
“We’re so happy to be able to grant Addie’s wish during the holiday season,” said Make-A-Wish Idaho President and CEO Janie Best. “It just so happens that this will most likely be the last wish that we grant during the 2021 calendar year, and it’s a wonderful wish to ring the new year in!”
Make-A-Wish Idaho plans to grant 85 wishes during the 2022 fiscal year. There are currently around 150 wish kids waiting for their wish throughout Idaho. Although the pandemic has slowed some aspects of wish granting, Make-A-Wish Idaho has continued to grant wishes efficiently and safely.
