Urbandale, Iowa - Make-A-Wish Iowa is pleased to announce the appointment of a new board chair and two members to the board of directors. This brings the total number of board members to 17.
“Our Board of Directors leads our chapter toward our vision of granting the wish of every eligible child across the state of Iowa,” said Sara Kurovski, President and CEO of Make-A-Wish Iowa. “We are excited to channel their talent and expertise into furthering our mission.”
JoDee Stensland was appointed to her first term as Board Chair. She is Vice President Senior Lead at Wells Fargo Bank in Des Moines. JoDee has been a member of the executive committee on the board of directors since 2018. Before assuming her role on the board, JoDee began her journey with Make-A-Wish Iowa as a volunteer in 2011 and continues her volunteer role as the chair of the Des Moines Gala.
Make-A-Wish Iowa also welcomes two new members. Dr. Ben Reinking M.D. and Natalie Dlouhy will generously share their time and talents to help create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.
Dr. Ben Reinking M.D. is a Cardiologist and Clinical Professor of Pediatrics in Cardiology at the University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital in Iowa City. In addition to treating many wish children, he has been a medical advisor for Make-A-Wish Iowa since March 2020.
“Children with serious medical problems and their families walk a difficult journey that requires strength of mind, body, and spirit,” Dr. Reinking states. “That strength deserves to be recognized and celebrated! I chose to join the board because Make-A-Wish experiences provide a way to celebrate that strength.”
Natalie Dlouhy is the VP Commercial Loan Officer at Lincoln Savings Bank in Waterloo. She has 11 years of banking experience and is an Iowa Banker’s Association Commercial Lending School graduate.
“I am beyond excited to join the Make-A-Wish Iowa board,” Natalie shares. “I have a passion for giving back to my community and look forward to providing hope and joy to many wish families.”
