Wish Alum & Linden Resident Gives Back By Participating in Annual Jersey City Event on September 22nd 2019
September 19, 2019
Monroe Township, NJ - On Sunday, September 22nd, Make-A-Wish New Jersey will host its annual Walk & Roll for Wishes at the Liberty State Park in Jersey City, New Jersey. The annual event will raise vital funds needed for their mission to create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.
Guests of all ages and abilities are invited to join the annual “walk and roll” event, as an individual or as part of a team, and can register in advance at nj.wish.org/walk. Participants will enjoy a non-competitive, handicap-accessible course around the park with breath-taking views of the New York City skyline, followed by a fun-filled day of music, entertainment, games, food and fun.
Among the hundreds of participants will be a familiar face – a wish alum and Linden resident, Noelle, whose wish for an above-ground pool was granted in 2008. At the young age of ten years old, Noelle courageously battled a life-threatening, critical illness, and had to endure two brain surgeries. Now, over ten years later, Noelle has devoted her time and efforts – along with her family and close friends – to the annual Walk & Roll for Wishes at Liberty State Park every year since 2009. She has raised funds and awareness each year so that children like her will experience the hope, strength and joy her wish brought her over a decade ago.
“I am in a community now with Make-A-Wish,” Noelle shared. “I’ve met other wish kids, and my parents have met other wish families. I want to give back to Make-A-Wish for all that they’ve done for me, my family, and even my friends.”
Make-A-Wish New Jersey has been creating life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses for over 35 years, bringing hope into the lives of nearly 11,000 children and families when they needed it most. In the fight against a critical illness, a wish helps kids look past their limitations, families overcome anxiety and entire communities experience joy. With the support of the community at the 2019 Walk & Roll for Wishes, even more children will experience the life-changing power of a wish in the weeks and months ahead.
Join Noelle at Liberty State Park this Sunday, September 22nd and help make future wishes come true. Onsite registration for the 2019 Walk & Roll for Wishes will begin at 9:00AM, and the Walk & Roll will kick off at 10:00AM. Sign up or make a donation at nj.wish.org/walk.
For guests unable to attend the Walk & Roll for Wishes at Liberty State Park on September 22nd, Make-A-Wish New Jersey will host a second for Walk & Roll for Wishes on October 20th in Monroe Township at the Samuel & Josephine Plumeri Wishing Place, a magical and whimsical wish-granting facility that Make-A-Wish New Jersey calls home.
