Volunteer Spotlight: Daniel Scheingarten

Daniel’s journey with Make-A-Wish is deeply personal—having faced illness as a child, he now volunteers to give back and spread joy. What keeps him coming back? It’s all about those incredible smiles. “Seeing the children’s happy faces when their wishes come true and meeting their families is the best part,” Daniel shared.

One unforgettable moment for Daniel was helping a seven-year-old named Arriana on her shopping spree wish. Arriana’s kindness stood out—she spent her day not only shopping for herself but also picking gifts for her family. “She shined the entire day,” Daniel said, remembering her excitement and generosity.

Volunteering has given Daniel a fresh perspective on life. He says, “I see the person, not just their illness, and I’ve built lasting relationships with some of the most amazing people I’ve ever met.” A typical wish day for Daniel involves balloons, breakfast (and maybe some snacks!), lots of decorating, and making sure every detail is perfect to create unforgettable memories.

What keeps him motivated? Staying connected with the families, seeing the kids grow, and volunteering with other causes to stay inspired. Daniel wishes more people understood the incredible strength these kids show and how being part of their journey puts life’s challenges into perspective.

His message to others is: “Volunteering pulls you out of yourself and shows you what true courage looks like. Through Make-A-Wish, we can all find the light and the rainbow these kids bring into the world.”

Thank you, Daniel, for your incredible dedication and heart!
