Wishes Make Kids a Part of Something Major
Some kids were born to serve, but life has a way of throwing us off course. That’s why Make-A-Wish Wyoming works hard to make dreams and wishes come true. When Wyatt was granted a wish, there was absolutely no hesitation for what he would wish for – to be a U.S. Marine for a day.
Wyatt who was born with a heart condition, knew he was going to grow up and be a marine. After watching his sister join the Marines, he saw how serving our country can make you a hero and someone to look up to. As Wyatt and his family left Rawlins and arrived at Camp Pendleton in San Diego, Wyatt experienced his wish come to life. For years he watched people in movies stand on top of the military vehicles, then before he knew it, he was one of those people standing on a Stryker infantry carrier vehicle. The Marines at Camp Pendleton even shaved his head!
“The first year with his condition was really hard. I remember the doctors saying, ‘we will never forget Wyatt.’ This is a kid who has overcome everything. From the doctors being surprised that he lived, to running cross country,” says Wyatt’s mom, Cameon.
Despite all he’s had to overcome in his 12 years, his wish to be a Marine came true and it was an experience he (and his entire family) will never forget
“I don’t know if I could express how amazing this experience was. The Marines were so involved, it was hard to even leave. I just want to say thank you to Make-A-Wish Wyoming. What they did was beyond belief. It was hard to even take in,” says Wyatt’s dad, Daniel.
Wishes have immeasurable impacts on kids, as evident in Wyatt’s wish to be a Marine. Your support is the reason we can change lives and bring life-changing experiences to kids like Wyatt. Learn more and join us in helping Wyoming wish kids at wish.org/Wyoming.
