Managing Our Funds

Make-A-Wish Metro New York and Western New York finances endeavors through corporate sponsorships, special events, foundation grants and individual contributions. However, we do not solicit funds by telephone and receive no federal or state funding. As a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization, all contributions are deductible to the extent permitted by law. Our financial statements are audited locally by CliftonLarsonAllen LLP.

At Make-A-Wish, we take our responsibility for the monies donated to our cause very seriously and are pleased to confirm that according to the fiscal year 2020 audit results, the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Metro New York and Western New York spent 62% of every dollar on wish granting and related program expenses. Only 18% of every dollar was spent on management and general costs and 20% was allocated to fundraising. For full financial details please review our most recent FY23 Audited Financial Statements, FY23 Impact Report or our latest 990.

We are proud to be a BBB Metro New York and Western New York Accredited Charity Seal Holder, having met all 20 BBB Standards for Charity Accountability.

Our Commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging

Make-A-Wish is committed to championing diversity, equity and inclusion, fostering an organization that is accessible and welcoming to all. Our vision to serve every eligible child is not only an aspiration; it is a strategic intent. In order to reach every eligible child, we need to continually evaluate and evolve along with our demographic environment. It is only through our mosaic of different cultures, perspectives and experiences that we can grant life-changing wishes to every eligible child.
